Henry VIII was a handsome king with an unimaginable tenacity of will and purpose. That was his strength and drawback. An able administrator need be stern and strict but if the same is stretched too far, one would become tyrannical. That became true of Henry. His reign was a reign of peace and terror. It was his high handed behavior that brought peace to the nation and the same struck terror in the hearts of his people towards the end. People remembered him for his Reformation and trembled at his name at the countless executions he did in his day. But England, nevertheless, owes her stability to this despotic Tudor.
